Gothenburg – One of the World’s Most Sustainable Destinations

A Green Journey Through the City

Join us on a unique Sustainability Tour of Gothenburg – onboard a modern bus powered by green fuel. As we travel through the city in an environmentally friendly way, you’ll discover why Gothenburg has been ranked one of the world’s most sustainable destinations. This is not just a sightseeing tour – it’s an inspiring journey into the city’s efforts to build a greener future.

Leading the Way in Sustainability

Gothenburg has an outstanding record when it comes to sustainability. An impressive 95% of the city’s hotels are eco-certified, and 97% of public transport runs on renewable energy. Even the airport is certified at the highest level of the Airport Carbon Accreditation scheme. The city has also issued the world’s very first green bonds to accelerate climate-focused investments and aims to become fossil independent by 2030. No wonder Gothenburg was named European Capital of Smart Tourism 2020 by the European Commission.

“In Gothenburg, our goal is to develop a fantastic city where people enjoy living, with endless opportunities that respect both the environment and the people,” says Katarina Torstensson, Sustainability Strategist at Göteborg & Co. “Many bold, determined and innovative people and organizations contribute to our vision of sustainable development – and they share it.”

Climate-Smart Food and Green Hotels

We explore how Gothenburg’s hotels focus on energy efficiency and eco-friendly cleaning, and how restaurants are pioneers in serving organic, locally sourced food while reducing waste. Many restaurants in the city proudly carry environmental awards, adding another layer to Gothenburg’s green reputation. The Port of Gothenburg – the largest in the Nordics – is highlighted as a hub of electrification and fossil-free shipping. And of course, we’ll see how the city’s trams, extensive rail network, and safe cycling paths make sustainable travel easy and accessible.

 Green Lifestyle and Circular Consumption

Sustainable tourism in Gothenburg is also about lifestyle. The city thrives on second-hand culture and a circular economy where clothes, furniture, and design items are given new life.

Optional Added Visits

Botanical Garden – One of Europe’s largest, fully organic, with a mission to protect biodiversity.
Liseberg Amusement Park – Scandinavia’s biggest amusement park, where millions of visitors enjoy climate-smart fun.
Gunnebo House and Gardens – An 18th-century estate with organic farming and sustainable practices at its very core.
Jubileumsparken at Lindholmen – A visionary waterfront park built as part of Gothenburg’s 400-year anniversary. Here you can swim in a floating pool, relax on an artificial beach, or join in urban gardening projects. The striking sauna – with changing rooms built from 12,000 recycled bottles – is a true symbol of sustainable design and innovation.

Together, these experiences show why Gothenburg is not only a city of history and culture but also a model for the sustainable lifestyle of the future. And the best part – we explore it all while traveling green ourselves.

The program in Gothenburg was very well received, and several people compared it to the level of events in Cannes. With glorious sunshine and a well-planned program, it was a great success!

The event agency led by Petra was very impressive. The team was professional, skilled and always available when needed, which gave the event an extra boost.

I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your outstanding support during our recent annual conference in Gothenburg. The archipelago tour, the excursions, and the Old Hollywood party on Saturday were a great success, and our guests were thrilled.

We would especially like to thank you both for your dedication and flexibility. You played a significant role in making our event run so smoothly.

The food was delicious, and the band was fantastic. Everyone really enjoyed themselves.

Partnering with Limited of Sweden for our Chamber’s inaugural international trip was an outstanding decision. Petra and her team delivered an impeccably organized experience, handling every logistical detail with precision and care.

Their thoughtful planning provided our group with meaningful cultural immersion, while also allowing ample free time for individual exploration.

We had an unforgettable experience thanks to Limited of Sweden. The guides were knowledgeable, engaging, and made the trip enjoyable from start to finish.

Every stop felt thoughtfully curated, and their enthusiasm was infectious. I am incredibly grateful that they were the ones to take us around Sweden, it would not have been the same without them.
